John Madden wouldn’t normally tell his clients to break the rules.
But giving driving directions to the firm’s new offices, there’s
no way around it: When you see the “Road Closed” sign and
are directed to turn, he says, “You need to go straight instead.”
That’s because James D.A. Holley & Co. PA’s new 10,000 sq. ft. building is located in Regional Center office park, which is quietly taking shape where the Centerville Road/Blairstone Extension meets the future Welaunee Parkway. And while the location may seem tucked away at the moment, when road construction clears it will be obvious this firm has planted itself in the center of it all.
The 61-year old CPA firm, which partner Matt Gilbert says, “has grown with Tallahassee,” had been looking to expand its offices for several years. Their previous space on Mahan Drive was a temporary solution while they searched for new headquarters. With about 35 percent of their client base consisting of construction related businesses, though, they were more particular than most.
While they looked closely at existing commercial properties, in the end they decided that Regional Center offered everything they needed: They could work with developer Parrish Group to custom-design the space, there was plenty of parking and room to grow.
Best of all, they were able to move in before the 2007 tax season. Says Madden, “Promises were kept and deadlines met.”
And in CPA terms that’s a good thing - the less taxing, the better.
