Parrish Group, Inc.

McConnaughhay BuildingAs you drive up to the Tallahassee law offices of McConnaughhay Duffy Coonrod Pope & Weaver, the building commands your attention. The two-story Colonial-style design has a welcoming portico at the front, supported by four broad columns. The building offers 30,000 sq. ft. of space and generous parking.

“I told (developer) Robert Parrish our building is the best he’s ever done,” says James N. McConnaughhay, senior partner.

And what’s not to like about its central location off Hermitage Boulevard?

With all the benefits, few would believe that the firm’s relocation in 2005 from leased space downtown to their own building could actually save them money.

“Financially, it was a good move,” McConnaughhay insists. “That was our primary driver.”

Established in 1976, the law firm has grown rapidly. They’ve expanded from one office and two attorneys to nine offices and almost 70 attorneys. Best known nationally for its Workers Comp practice, McConnaughhay also has thrived in other areas, including civil litigation and elder/disability law.

The relocation has been especially helpful to the firm’s growing list of older and disabled clients, says Jana McConnaughhay, co-chair of the Elder Law practice. “It’s just another way we can better serve our clients,” she says.

With seven attorneys specializing in this area (up from zero just two years ago), and the aging of the general population, McConnaughhay anticipates this part of their practice to expand even more.

Once considered a problem…with these spacious offices, growth is one less thing these attorneys will be worried about.
